Sneak-peek of my Vintage dress entry for Create&Craft TV, Makeittoday and Brother dressmaker of the year competition

The Create and Craft TV, Makeittoday and Brother dressmaker of the year competition will be closing on the 9th of March 2017.

I am still working on my Vintage entry and see sneak-peek of the vintage dress below. This gown has lots of folds to create that dimension.

There is still time to enter the competition. There are four categories to enter.

  • Vintage
  • Ready to wear
  • Children
  • Customising

Read the press release,

Simply take a clear photo of your garment against a plain background and enter it via dressmaker@makeittoday.co.uk or using this form. Contestants can enter each category, but each entry must be a different make.

Along with one winner being crowned Dressmaker of the Year, each category will feature its own prizes for a selection of our most impressive entries. The judges’ decision is final.

There are four main categories for every type of dressmaker,

  • Ready to wear: Home-made garments that suggest an ‘off the rack’ look, but with a high level of comfort, quality and ease of wear factored in.
  • Vintage: From the flirtacious frocks of the forties to the exaggerated lines of the eighties, we want to see your custom takes on retro makes.
  • Customising: The only way is upcycle if you fancy flaunting your repurposing skills, so send in any garments given a new lease of life.
  • Children’s wear: Tiny tees, kiddie capes or junior jumpsuits, here’s your chance to show your miniature makes to a whole new audience!
