Ruler lace or Broomstick lace is a soft textured lace. Pattern can be used on blankets, shawls, sweaters or jumpers, scarves or as desired.
The pattern is a combination of large loops worked over a stick or metric ruler. See step by step pictures and instructions below.
The lace is done over a group of five (5) loops.
STEP 1: make chain in multiples of 5 plus 1.
STEP 2: Miss 1st chain space and one (1 ) Double crochet into next chain space. One double crochet (dc) each chain space across.
STEP 3: one(1 ) double crochet into each double crochet on previous row.
STEP 4: insert hook into dc (double crochet), pull a loop and place it on the metric ruler. Repeat across the row.
STEP 5: wind yarn around the hook.
STEP 6: insert hook, right to left through five loops.
STEP 7: yarn around hook,draw a loop through the five(5) loops.
STEP 8: Five (5) double crochet over the five loops in step 6/7
STEP 9: repeat from step 5 across to step 8 across all loops on the row.
To continue pattern, repeat from step 3 to 9 until desired length is achieved
