Announcing March’s Design Challenge Themes
Moody Florals | Entries due by February 26
By the end of this week’s challenge we’ll all be feeling a little moody (in a good way!). Shades of black, deep blues, maroons and mossy greens make this trending floral the perfect addition as statement wallpaper or an upholstered velvet couch. Leave your pastel colors behind because your choice of colors is what gives these florals their mysterious feel.
Entries will be previewed at the fat quarter size: 21” x 18”. Submissions close February 26 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins February 28. Winners will be announced March 7.
Affirmations | Entries due by March 5
Want to know our favorite thing about 2019? You! This week we’re embracing self-care and words of encouragement to lift up our community. Do you have a go-to mantra when you’re feeling down? Maybe you have the perfect empowering motto that sets the tone for your life philosophy. Or maybe it’s as simple as reminding yourself to take it easy when things feel a little hectic. Whatever it is, when working on your entry this week, don’t forget to think about the ways the community might highlight your uplifting message in their home. From framing a wallpaper swatch of your feel-good phrase to making wall art featuring an engineered design, we can’t wait to see what you create.

Maximalist | Entries due by March 12
We’re throwing “less is more” out the door and embracing one of the latest home décor trends of 2019: maximalism. The polar opposite of minimalism is making its bold debut in the weekly design challenges. Channel your inner maxinista and think “more is more” as you create your repeating design. Larger than life design elements, bold strokes of genius and way-out-there colors are just a few ways you can make a statement this week.

Feathers | Entries due by March 19
From the elegant look of swans and peacocks, to the colorful patterns found on small birds perched outside your window, a flurry of feathers is your inspiration for this week’s challenge. Will you capture the intricate patterns created by a closeup view of feathers or will you look to something more neutral that evokes delicate movement?
