Hello, designer!
We are partnering with Cascade Yarns to expand the 60 Quick Knits series into the realm of crochet. Currently, we are looking for beginner friendly crochet designs to appear in a book tentatively titled 60 Quick Crochet Projects for Beginners.
All projects in this book will use Cascade Yarns Pacific, an acrylic and superwash merino wool blend. The specific yarns primarily used for this book will be Pacific (worsted weight) and Pacific Sport. We will also consider including a few projects in Pacific Chunky (bulky weight) and Pacific Bulky (super bulky weight).
All submissions must be entirely crocheted and use simpler stitches, techniques, and finishings that are approachable for beginners.
The majority of the designs will be for adults, but we will accept some designs for babies (newborn–2 years old). All types of projects are welcome, but we would especially like to see the following:
Accessories: scarves, hats, mittens, gloves, shawls
Garments: pullovers, cardigans, ruanas
Home goods: blankets, pillow covers, baskets
We may also accept a couple very basic amigurumi toys that require minimal shaping and finishing.
Submit something fresh and modern and fun, keeping in mind that these are intended to be quick patterns for beginners.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
– Submit via email to designsub@sohopub.com
– Put “60 Quick Crochet” in the email’s submit line
– Submit each design as a separate pdf, jpg, or doc attachment (you may send several submissions in a single email) at a maximum of 2 pages and 2 MB per design
– Ensure that your name, physical mailing address, email, and phone number are listed on each page of each submission. If it isn’t, your submission(s) might not be accepted.
– OPTIONAL, BUT HELPFUL: Include a list of all stitches, increases, decreases, techniques, etc that each submission will use. For garments, also include a brief write up or notes about how it is constructed.
The deadline for all submissions is Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 9:00 am EST.
