Jenny Mayes (Hobby Art Ltd) gives a narrative on the stolen Hobby Art Ltd Van that is filled with stock.

As lots of you will know Peter and I were at the NEC show at the weekend.
It was great to catch up with Laura and Helen who did the make and takes on the stand. Fantastic job Ladies.
I enjoyed the TV show that I did with Janice Phillips and the awesome HOCHANDA team and it was great to meet up with so many lovely Crafters. Some I’ve known for many moons but it was nice to meet so many new people too.
All was well until the Sunday morning when we came out of our Hotel to find the van had been stolen.
The van had stock, including several boxes of stamps, storage boxes and a variety of items in it at the time. Saddest of all we lost a box of our beautiful artwork. Irreplaceable.
I wasn’t mad. I was sad and hurt. As a small family Company, we work so hard and for a short time, on Sunday morning, I felt perhaps it was time to shut the doors on Hobby Art and call it a day.
Normally I wouldn’t put a post out like this. I usually keep quiet, recover and then come back but I was so grateful for the reaction and support when we arrived at the NEC (minus van) that I wanted to say ‘Thank you’.
The Crafting Community were there for us.
Lots of people offered to drive our stock home. Tim (Anna Marie Designs) and Mark (Crafty Devils Paper Craft) stockpiled boxes for us to use to pack at the end of the day.
Thanks for the support and offers of help James (Stampers Grove) John (Limetree Craft) Jane (The Art of Craft Ltd.) Helen D Pritchett, Jayne Harvey and many more. Too many to mention.
Thank you Andy for hiring a van and coming to the rescue. It’s when there are problems you find out who your friends are.
So many people just gave me a hug and that’s what I needed.
I nearly grizzled on 2 occasions during the day…..Once when a neighbouring stallholder put a box of chocolates in front of me because she didn’t know me well enough to give me a hug and Secondly when I realised my ‘a bit tatty’ old, but much loved, Craft case was in the missing van.
Anyway, today is another day. Big girls knickers on today and moving forward…..
Sorry to waffle on so much but before I go a request or two….. Please buy from authorised Traders such as shops or Hochanda. If you see any of our stamp sets on ebay in large quantities, or anywhere else, please alert us.
Secondly, The Police haven’t found the van so if anyone sees a White Ford Transit (EO11 KBK) abandoned please, let the Police know. It’s quite distinctive as it has shotgun pellet marks on the back doors. (Don’t know why – before I had it!!)
Thanks a lot. Much love. Jenny xxx
