Achieving a good fit is an essential part of the garment construction process and by fine-tuning your patterns before you start sewing; you can produce clothing that fits like a glove with minimal adjustments necessary in your fashion fabric.

 

Investigate the processes and techniques of drafting tailored garments in this multi-session course covering everything from measuring, drafting, sewing the test fits, and pattern grading!Through video, handouts, and illustrated tutorials, learn how to apply your body measurements to create your own bodice (with sleeve) and skirt slopers from scratch! With the bodice and skirt slopers in hand you now have a dress pattern that you can then alter to make all sorts of new styles. You’ll even develop a pant sloper from your favorite pair of pants in your wardrobe (using a knock off method of pattern drafting). In the last session you learn how to polish up your fitting techniques to adjust patterns effectively and alter ready to wear garments.
