Last month, Czech felt hat manufacturer Tonak officially opened their Flagship Store at Zatecká Street 14, in the immediate vicinity of Pařízská Street, the most prestigious shopping address in Prague.
This traditional brand name has a long history of producing felt hat bodies and high quality fur felt hats.
“Manufacturing of fur felt hats in Nový Jičín has continued for more than two hundred years, and up until now it has retained a tremendous amount of handwork,” says Lenka Urbánková-Jaresová, the General Director and Chairwoman of the Tonak’s Board of Directors. “To make just one single hat, it is necessary to use the skills and craftsmanship of our hat makers at more than one hundred manufacturing operations.”
Tonak connects traditional technological procedures with modern design and the company has established cooperation with remarkable and distinguished fashion designers including Klára Nademlýnská and Petra Ptáčková.
An assortment of luxurious hats and caps in the Prague shop is complemented with fashionable Czech-made scarves and leather gloves. Customers can expect a first class service including consultancy on fur-felt hat care and storage and the shop can also offer resizing for selected hats.
Headwear from Tonak’s Nový Jičín factory, as well as from their Strakonice plant which produces knitted caps, berets and fezzes, are worn by customers from more than 50 countries and the firm’s felt hat bodies are used by top hat designers around the world.
