Issue 224 of Retro Gamer celebrates 25 years of the Nintendo 64 with an in-depth look at Nintendo’s popular console. We speak to notable developers who worked on the machine to discover how they created some of the most technically innovative games of the generation.

While we’re on the subject of technically impressive games we also examine how developers made the tricky transition from 2D gaming to 3D gaming and look at the pitfalls and hazards they faced along the way, as well as the games that succeeded and the ones that spectacularly failed.

We’ve some great Making Of articles in issue 224 including a look at the Freescape classic Castle Master, the PS2 survival horror release Ghosthunter and the enjoyable The Simpsons: Bart Vs The Space Mutants. We also go behind the scenes of the graphically incredible Litil Divil, which featured some exceptional animation and lots of quirky mini games.

Other great articles to look forward to include a celebration of the last 40 years of Falcom with its president Toshihiro Kondo, the evolution of Dizzy with the Oliver twins, as well as the ultimate guide to Double Dragon II: The Revenge. Technos’ follow-up to its hit arcade game.

Mini features in issue 224 include a look at Atari 800, Neo Geo Pocket Color Collecting, Beach Spikers Cheeky Mouse, Matt Furniss, The Berlin Wall, Slap Fight MD, Neo Geo CD Controller, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Dungeons & Dragons Collection and much more

Thanks for your continual support. Stay safe and we’ll see you all next month.
