REPORTS TO: 
Sr. Director of Marketing

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Full-time

LOCATION: Remote
JOB SUMMARY
:The Social Media Manager position will report directly to the Sr. Director of Marketing and have a strong social media background. You’ll lead our social team, and work closely with our creative and product teams to develop and implement compelling social media programs. We’re looking for someone with an insatiable curiosity who is eager to learn and take on new challenges. We will want you to always ask “why?” but also be proactive enough to come with solutions to said challenges that will arise. Our social platforms are truly an amazing resource for us and, cliche as it may sound, the only thing holding us back is our imagination.Another key responsibility will be to develop local and national marketing strategies to promote our “secret sauce” – our town, Hamilton, Missouri (aka, the Disneyland of Quilting). With our unique quilt shops, restaurants, education and retreat centers, Hamilton sees close to 100,000 visitors a year from all over the world. So, understanding the drivers of what puts a trip to Hamilton on our customers’ bucket list and then translating that information into a successful, measurable marketing and PR campaign is important.
RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead the development of on-brand, compelling content across multiple social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and YouTube delivering on defined KPIs. Instruct and lead content planning in newer mediums and platforms like Instagram Reels + TikTok content.
  • Lead team of social media associates to develop quarterly editorial calendars and schedule daily posts within social media management tools
  • Build out social media best practices for our brand, specifically in the development of Facebook Groups.
  • Guide team to address customer questions by posting replies on our social platforms or via direct message; additionally, escalate customer complaints to the Sr Director of Marketing and/or Customer Service team when needed.
  • Take an active role in community management including current pages and future pages.
  • Work with agency partners on influencer relationships. Be the brand point person for these partnerships. Vet and present choices, select projects, share content, and collaborate on new initiatives.
  • Coordinate brand marketing efforts with key content and product partners
  • Support: during live events and brand activations (including some nights and weekends), company blog as needed to coincide with social media postings, and Sr Director of Marketing with insights, observations, and recommendations to create even more compelling content for our customers.
  • Supervise team of social media associates to guide their development and enhance their skill sets.
  • Partner with Shops team and develop a trackable, measurable marketing and PR plan to drive traffic to Hamilton, Missouri.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in digital marketing having worked with multiple social media platforms, serving as administrator, and strong community management background; a solid understanding of the social media universe including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, forums, and blogs.
  • Experience developing and supporting social media strategies that deliver on business objectives and established KPIs.
  • Must have experience with digital and traditional advertising/marketing channels.
  • Experience working and connecting with cross-functional teams and agency partners.
  • Ability to work in iMovie and other software to edit video, create gifs, etc. preferred
  • Able to travel to Missouri Star’s headquarters in Hamilton, MO three (6-10) times per year (negotiable).
