Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
In honour of Her Majesty and to allow our colleagues to pay their respects, all Lidl stores will close on Monday 19th September.
Although I am not a Lidl customer and thus not familiar with the store, I am impressed with the concept of closing for the day to honour the life and death of an individual. As a citizen of the US I am not familiar with the concept of a monarchy other than reading of such a construct in probably middle school. Over a period of days, of and on, I have watched the response to Queen Elizabeth II’s death and must admit I am enthralled and I suspect a bit jealous of a society that can become so devoted to an individual that the entire commonwealth for all intents and purposes closes down for days in devotion.
