KNIT COLLAGE SUBMISSION CALL
Welcome to our very first open pattern submission call! While we have worked with many talented designers over the years, this is our first official open call. We are so happy you’re here.
If you have found your way to our call for submissions, but don’t know much about our brand just yet, we’d like to begin with our value statement here.
At Knit Collage, we foster a kind and joyful community that is a welcoming space for creative self-expression where all belong regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, age, gender identity, and size. We believe every fiber of our company is made stronger by appreciating what makes each of us unique within a diverse community of makers.
Theme/Mood
We are currently accepting knit and crochet design submissions for fall/winter 2023, ranging from sweaters and cardigans, to accessories and home goods, and everything in between. We invite you to view our moodboard for the fall/winter 2023 season here.
This season is all about wide open spaces and wearing things that make you feel alive and free. Inspiration comes from the American west where mountain views and big skies fill you with a sense of limitless possibility. Mix in a good dose of the 70’s, patchwork or piecing elements and all the handmade details.
Deadlines
The submission deadline for fall/winter 2023 designs is February 1, 2023. Please provide a sketch of your design on a body and a photo of a swatch using yarn of a similar gauge to the Knit Collage yarn you plan to use. Please use a PDF format for each submission.
The swatch should show all key elements, like colorwork, cables, or stitch patterns, that you intend to use in the pattern.
Please be sure that if your design is a garment, it can be graded to give consistent fit and style on a range of chest sizes from 32” to 60”.
Designers who have their patterns selected will be notified by February 15th, 2023 and sent a contract to sign (see “Compensation and Rights” below.) Signed contracts must be received no later than February 17th, 2023. At this time, we will also send yarn for your design process.
Finished, graded patterns and a sample are due no later than May 15th, 2023.
