Today, I am heartbroken to announce that S&S has been left with no choice but to close our beautiful business after 10 years.
I am deeply sorry to those of you who have been personally impacted by this outcome and for letting all our team, customers, investors, and suppliers down. I’m sorry we couldn’t communicate sooner as we had to follow formal liquidation procedures before reaching out to you all. Many of you have seen us grow from a small stand in @oldspitalfieldsmarket and those who met us at our weekly knitting workshops in @eatfarmstand. For Jen and me, Stitch & Story was not just a job it has been our heartbeat and our passion.
The road for small brands bringing a product to market is long and hard. I shared with you during the summer that the business was struggling with numerous freight and supply chain issues leading to overstocking during out-of-season and long operations delays with our collaboration launches. We worked very hard with our third-party warehouses both in the UK and US, but the difficulty of navigating all the challenges in the current market has been insurmountable. We needed the support and capital to continue and when we exhausted all possible options, it left us no choice but to close shop.
As first-time entrepreneurs, we learned so much about building a business and many of you have heard our rollercoaster stories along the way. We are so grateful for our community, our staff, stockists, and our collaboration partners. I will never forget the times when we met King Charles, debuted on BBC’s Make Craft Series, and supported the UK Govt as female-owned business ambassadors. There is still so much left to do in this crafting world but we hope we’ve inspired many of you to craft.
Thank you to everyone who has joined our journey, for the encouragement, support and love. We are truly sad to see our story end here.
