A quick step by step tutorial with pictures by Anino Ogunjobi on how to make a hearty cake for the valentine using a heart shape cookie cutter.

Cut out fondants with the heart shape cookie cutter, paint the heart shape with food colouring gel and then place the hearts on your cake. Viola!

This technique is suitable for children and beginners in Sugarcraft.

One can buy already made “fondant covered” cake from the shop and make these heart toppers for it.

Materials needed

Cake

Fondant

heart shape cookie cutter

rolling pin

Food colouring : paste

Artist paint brush – that can be used on  food

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1: Cover the cake in fondant and tie a ribbon to its base. Roll out fondant and cut out heart shapes with the cookie cutter.

STEP 2: paint the fondant hearts with the food colouring paste, using the artist paint brush.

STEP 3:Place the painted heart shapes in random order.
