Do you dream of having your own artwork printed on fabric so you can sew a garment with a look that’s completely your own? Or have you ever wondered how to set up your designs so you can submit them to a fabric manufacturer?
Spoonflower is thrilled to team up with BurdaStyle for a Fabric Design Course with Illustrator and Photoshop.
The eight-week course taught by Lauren Dahl covers all the material you’ll need to take your artwork and turn it into a repeating pattern ready for fabric printing with Spoonflower!
The next session starts November 30th!
In this course, you’ll learn exactly how to take your artwork – whether it’s a watercolor painting on paper or a geometric vector image in Illustrator (or anything in between) – and turn it into a repeating pattern ready for fabric printing. You will also learn how to navigate fabric printing sites, such as SpoonFlower. And learn how to apply your patterns to garment line drawings so you can preview how they’ll look on the garment of your choice.
And finally, with more and more companies venturing into garment-friendly fabrics like voiles and knits, quilt fabric manufacturers are ripe for accepting new designers. This course will get you on your way to creating a professional submission and landing a fabric design contract.
Course Level: This course is suitable for students with a basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator OR adventurous beginners since an introduction to each program as it pertains to fabric design IS included in the course.
This online course is designed to fit into even the busiest of schedules! This course has no set meeting time. You can sign in and read the material, watch the videos, complete and submit assignments, and participate in discussions on a timetable that fits your needs!
