Copying is STEALING… plain and simple, Bar Stool says as it speaks on its allegedly stolen design.

Warning. This is a rant about copying. It might get sweary becuase I’m really cross. ?
It may appear from our lovely images, our huge range and our big social media following that we’re a large company. Actually we’re tiny…just 5 of us. We just work really, really hard! So when someone STEALS our ideas it is really damaging to this little business. Copying is STEALING… plain and simple.
When I see someone casually ripping of Baa Stools it really pisses me off.
In the past year the following has happened;
A company imported cheap poor quality sheepskin stools and STOLE all the wording off our website and used it to describe their stools.
A company who had bought stools from us to sell in their shop STOLE our design and made identical stools. They’re now telling me I’m wasting my time complaining and I should use my energy elsewhere.
Another company made identical copies of our Angharad stool and denied copying them…finally admitting it once they realised we’re not a pushover. In the course of the legal process they accused me of bullying them…for asking them not to STEAL from me!!
Just yesterday a small furniture manufacturer just an hour away launched a new range of sheepskin, leather and tweed. They are totally ripping us off…even after being asked not to. Boasting about how hard they’ve worked on ‘their designs’. So upsetting to see a small British business STEAL the ideas from another small British business. As if trading isn’t difficult enough in these turbulent times.
I’m not defeated. If you STEAL our copyright we will stop you. We work closely with ACID (Anti Copying in Design) who help us pursue copyright THIEVES through legal channels.
I’m told to comfort myself with the thought that we are the ‘Wallkers Crisp’ of the sheepskin stool world (love the analogy) and way ahead of the copyists.
Yes, you can buy a cheaper version of a Baa Stool, but it’s not Baa Stool and nothing similar is quite the same.
